Fall HVAC Maintenance
Fall HVAC Maintenance: What We’ll Do for You
As the cooler months approach, it’s time to prepare your HVAC system for the colder weather. Our team will perform a thorough inspection and maintenance to ensure your system operates efficiently all season long. Here’s what we’ll do during your fall HVAC maintenance service:
Power Down & Safety Check
- Turn Off Power: We’ll begin by turning off the power to your HVAC system to ensure safety during the maintenance process.
Thermostat Inspection & Calibration
- Check Thermostat Settings: We’ll verify that your thermostat is set to "heat" mode for the fall and winter months.
- Test Functionality: We’ll test the thermostat to ensure it's accurately controlling the temperature and cycling your system correctly.
- Calibrate Thermostat: If necessary, we’ll recalibrate your thermostat for optimal performance.
Air Filter Replacement or Cleaning
- Replace Filters: If your air filters are clogged or dirty, we’ll replace them with new filters to ensure clean airflow.
- Clean Reusable Filters: If you have reusable filters, we’ll clean them thoroughly to ensure they don’t restrict airflow.
Inspect & Clean Air Ducts
- Inspect Ductwork: We’ll inspect the ductwork for leaks, gaps, or blockages that could affect airflow and heating efficiency.
- Clear Debris: Ask us about our complete Duct Cleaning Service! At an additional cost, we’ll remove dust, dirt, and debris from the ducts to improve air quality and system efficiency.
Outdoor Unit Service (Condenser)
- Clear Debris: We’ll remove leaves, dirt, and other debris from around the outdoor condenser to maintain airflow and prevent damage.
- Clean Coils: We’ll clean the condenser coils to ensure efficient heat exchange and proper system operation.
- Check Condenser Fins: We’ll inspect and clean the condenser fins for any damage or dirt buildup.
Inspect Heating System Components
- Inspect Burner Assembly: We’ll check the burner assembly for proper function and clean any soot or buildup.
- Check Heat Exchanger: We’ll inspect the heat exchanger for cracks or damage, which could be a safety concern.
- Examine Pilot Light/Flame Sensor: We’ll check the pilot light (if applicable) and flame sensor to ensure reliable ignition and efficient heating.
Check Refrigerant Levels
- Inspect Refrigerant: Even in colder months, it’s important to ensure that refrigerant levels are correct to maintain system efficiency.
- Recharge Refrigerant: If refrigerant levels are low, we’ll identify and fix any leaks and recharge the refrigerant to the proper level. (Additional costs may apply.)
Inspect & Clean the Evaporator Coil
- Check Evaporator Coil: We’ll inspect the evaporator coil for dirt buildup, which can reduce heating and cooling efficiency.
- Clean Coil: If needed, we’ll carefully clean the evaporator coil to improve overall system performance.
Check System Insulation
- Inspect Insulation: We’ll check the insulation around refrigerant lines and ensure it’s intact and free from damage.
Test the Heating System
- Run the Heating System: We’ll turn on the heating mode and test your HVAC system to ensure it’s heating your space effectively.
- Listen for Strange Noises: We’ll listen for any unusual noises that could indicate potential issues or mechanical problems.
- Check Airflow: Ask about our System Rebalance Services! At an additional cost, we can measure the airflow from your vents and adjust if necessary to ensure a strong and consistent flow.
Inspect and Lubricate Moving Parts
- Inspect Fan Blades: We’ll check the fan blades for dirt buildup, wear, or damage and clean them as necessary.
- Check Belts: We’ll inspect belts for wear and replace them if needed to prevent breakdowns.
Check the System’s Overall Performance
- Test System Efficiency: After performing all necessary maintenance, we’ll run your HVAC system to ensure it’s heating your home efficiently.
- Check for System Leaks: We’ll check for any issues that could affect system performance, such as leaks or improper airflow.
Professional Recommendations & Next Steps
- Discuss Findings: After completing all tasks, we’ll review the service and explain any issues we’ve found.
- Offer Recommendations: If any repairs or replacements are needed, we’ll provide you with recommendations and advice on next steps.
